Updated Website lost all posts

This morning, our community website was updated to version 4.8. In the process, our front page was lost. The pull-down menus still function and everything is visible. A fix to the homepage is in process now. Howeer, all posts are MIA. As soon as the problem is fixed, a notification will be sent out.

PA/VIT training that is close and convenient!

Alta Community has worked together with GSU to provide older girl training for Program Aide and Volunteer-in-Training during day camp.  If you are an Alta Community Girl Scout, complete the training and Alta Community will reimburse the training cost.  

The training will be 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on both Tuesday, June 27th and Thursday, June 29th. During day camp on Wednesday, June 28th,  you’ll get a chance to put your new skills to work! 

To be considered for Program Aide training, you must be a Cadette, who has earned one LIA award before the training begins.  To complete your Program Aide, you need to not only take the training, but then work with younger Scouts during day camp, a Journey (in addition to what you did with LIA), badges, activities for about six months.

To be considered for the Volunteer-in-Training, you must be a Senior or Ambassador (minimum having completed ninth grade), who will work as a mentor to a Daisy, Brownie, Junior or Cadette troop to help them complete a Journey or badge that lasts over four or more sessions (roughly three to six months).

 To register, please go to GSU website and register online. Upon completion of the training sessioin, Alta Community will reimburse you!

*special note: For every activity that your troop participates in that is outside your “normal” meeting space, at least one adult must be certified in CPR/First Aid/AED! There are three classes listed below.

 

Volunteer Training

Troop Camping 101 

May 11. 5:30pm-7:30pm. St. George.

May 25. 6pm-8pm. Salt Lake City.

June 7. 6pm-8pm. Salt Lake City.

Learn about the Girl Scout travel progression, the basics of camping safety, and much more! Camping is an opportunity for girls to have fun and to experience adventure and the great outdoors.  This course is required for at least one adult traveling with a troop on a camping trip that is 1 night or longer. Trainings must have been completed within the last 2 years to be valid.

CPR/First Aid/AED 

May 16. 6pm-8pm. Salt Lake City.

May 24. 6pm-8pm. American Fork.

                                   June 8. 5:30pm-7:30pm. Ogden.

Topics include conscious and unconscious choking, rescue breathing, CPR, use of AED, and basic first aid. This course is required for at least 1 adult Girl Scout volunteer for any activity outside of your normal meeting place and time.

New Troop Leader Training 

June 6. 5:45pm-8:30pm. Salt Lake City.

June 22. 5:45pm-8:30pm. American Fork.

This training covers everything you need to know to be a troop leader: all about Girl Scouts; policies and safety requirements; the Girl Scout program; troop finances; accessing resources; how to work with parents and plan your parent meeting; how to work with girls; and much more.  It is REQUIRED that all new troop leaders and co-leaders take this course.

Wilderness First Aid 

June 16 – June 17. Trefoil Ranch. 

This course will certify you in American Red Cross Wilderness First Aid (two-year certification). A WFA first-aider must be present when a Girl Scout activity’s response time for emergency medical system (EMS) is greater than 30 minutes, regardless of the activity, and when Girl Scout Safety Activity Checkpoints indicate.
